Do I need a consultation first?

For anything custom, yes. A consultation is where placement, size, style and how the design will sit on your body get settled, and it is far easier to change a drawing than a tattoo. Small, simple pieces can often be handled over messages instead.

How much does a tattoo cost?

Cost depends on size, placement, detail, how many sessions the piece needs and which artist takes it on — which is why nobody can quote accurately from a description alone. Send your idea with a rough size and placement and you will get a realistic figure rather than a guess.

How do deposits work?

A deposit secures your appointment and covers the drawing time that goes in before the day. It comes off the final cost of the tattoo. Get in touch and we will confirm the amount, how it is paid and what happens if you need to move your appointment.

Do you accept walk-ins?

Walk-in availability depends on the day and on which artists are in. Message ahead if you can — even an hour of notice usually means the difference between being seen and being turned away.

What is the minimum age?

Minimum age is set by the law where the studio operates, and valid photo ID is required on the day regardless of how old you look. Contact the studio to confirm the age limit and which forms of ID are accepted before you book.

Bringing one person for support is usually fine, especially for a first tattoo. Space at the station is limited though, so let us know in advance rather than arriving with a group.

Yes. Custom work is drawn specifically for you, based on your idea, your reference and the part of the body it is going on. You see and approve the design and the stencil placement before any ink goes in.

How long does a tattoo session take?

A small, simple piece can be finished inside an hour. Detailed work, large-scale pieces and full sleeves are built over several sittings, and how long each sitting runs depends as much on how well you handle it as on the design. You will be given a realistic estimate when the piece is booked.

How should I prepare for a tattoo?

Eat a proper meal beforehand, drink water, and get a decent night of sleep. Avoid alcohol the night before, wear clothing that gives easy access to the area, and do not turn up sunburnt. If you are on medication or have a condition that affects healing or bleeding, mention it before the day rather than on it.

Yes, and it starts with an honest look at what is already there. How dark, how dense and how old the existing tattoo is decides what can realistically be hidden. Sometimes the better answer is reworking it into something larger, or lightening it with laser first — you will be told which applies to yours.

How should I care for a new tattoo?

Keep the covering on for as long as you are told, then wash gently with clean hands and unscented soap, pat dry and apply a thin layer of the recommended aftercare product. Do not pick or scratch it as it flakes, keep it out of direct sun, and stay out of pools, baths and open water until it is fully healed. You will be given written instructions before you leave.

What if my tattoo does not look right?

Get in touch with a photo. Some redness, swelling and flaking is normal in the first week, but spreading heat, worsening pain after a few days or discharge is not — and it is far better to have it looked at early. If you have signs of infection, see a doctor as well as contacting the studio.
